What is oxygen index?

Oxygen index is a method for measuring the minimum oxygen concentration needed to keep the sample burning smoothly in the mixed air flow of oxygen and nitrogen under specified conditions, such as indoor temperature, and the result is expressed as the volume percentage of oxygen. A high oxygen index means that the material is not easy to burn, and a low oxygen index means that the material is easy to burn. It is generally considered that the oxygen index<22 is flammable, the oxygen index between 22 and 27 is flammable, and the oxygen index above 27 is nonflammable.

Standards:ASTM D2863, ISO 4589-2:1996, NES 714

Oxygen index is a method to evaluate the relative combustibility of plastics and polymer materials, which is usually tested by oxygen index tester. The appearance of the instrument is mainly modern design, beautiful and generous. Using modern oxygen sensor technology, the percentage concentration of oxygen can be automatically obtained, and the accuracy can reach 0.1% through digital display. Use the precision metering gas flow valve to accurately adjust the gas flow. Equipped with high-quality quartz glass tube, heat and high temperature resistant. Equipped with gas ignite device to automatically cut off gas, which is convenient for users to use with ease.
