How much do you know about Japan ST2016 testing?

At present, countries also attach great importance to toy safety issues, and formulate and continuously improve corresponding toy regulations. Last week, we have learned about the relevant testing requirements of European and American countries. Next, let’s understand the content of Japan’s children’s toy testing regulations.

Japan ST2016

In 1971, the Japan Toy Association (JTA) established the Japan Safety Toy Mark (ST Mark) to ensure the safety of children’s toys under the age of 14. It mainly includes three parts: physical and mechanical properties, flame retardant properties and chemical properties.

The ST 2016 version released this time mainly focuses on the physical and mechanical properties of the first part. There are major revisions: 1. Comprehensively revise the relevant terms of ejection toys; 2. Add some squeeze toys, rattles, fasteners and other toys. and new requirements for toy parts; 3. Formulate design principles for bath toys; 4. Clarify battery control standards.

The second part of the flame retardant performance control standard is updated to ISO 8124-2:2014.

The chemical properties of the third part are consistent with ST 2012, and the new requirements have been implemented since January 1, 2016, and the test methods and standard solutions have been revised. Please refer to the attachment for details.
