(Textile-Flammability Test) What is the difference in scope between CPSC 16 CFR 1610 and CPSC 16 CFR 1615/1616?
U. S. Consumer Product Safety Commission established and administers Flammability Fabric Act. CPSC 16 CFR 1610, provides methods of testing the flammability of clothing and textile intended to be used for clothing. This standard shall not apply to hats, gloves, footwear, and interlining fabrics. This standard is the minimum requirement in flammability for clothing. CPSC 16 CFR 1615/16, provides a test method to determine any product of children’s sleepwear, or any fabric or related material intended or promoted for use in the flammability of children’s sleepwear. The testing should include three stages: fabric testing, Prototype seam/Trim testing & Production garment testing.
The Vertical Combustion Tester is suitable for measuring the flame retardant properties of various flame retardant textiles (such as woven fabrics, knitted fabrics, coated products, laminated products, etc.). Determining the tendency of textiles to burn, smolder and char.
Install the sample in the sample holder and hang it vertically in the test instrument. After burning the sample with the flame of the required height for a certain period of time, record the afterburning, smoldering time and damage length of the sample for evaluating its combustion performance.
